Cookie policy
How Swiss Open Data uses cookies and similar storage technologies, and how to manage your choice.

What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small file a website places on your device. We also use similar technologies (browser local storage). They keep the service working, keep you signed in and — only with your consent — measure how the service is used.
Our approach: analytics is optional
Analytics cookies are only set after your explicit consent. Until you click "Accept" in the banner, no analytics cookie is placed and no usage data is sent to our measurement tool. Strictly necessary cookies, by contrast, are essential and do not require consent.
Strictly necessary cookies
Always on — the service cannot work without them.
- Authentication
- Clerk — keeps you signed in to your account (secure session).
- Consent preference
- Remembers your cookie choice so the banner isn't shown again.
- Preferences
- The language and theme (light/dark) you selected.
- Payment
- Stripe — secures the checkout flow when you subscribe.
Analytics cookies (with your consent)
Enabled only if you accept. We use PostHog (servers in the European Union) to understand and improve the service — pages viewed, features used, errors encountered.
- Tool
- PostHog (PostHog Inc.), EU hosting.
- Purpose
- Aggregate usage statistics, error tracking, product improvement.
- Session replay
- Your conversation content is masked in recordings; only navigation and UI are visible, for debugging.
- Reverse proxy
- Collection is routed through our own domain (/ingest).
Manage your choice
You can change your choice at any time via the "Manage cookies" link at the bottom of the legal pages, which re-opens the banner. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features may then stop working correctly.
